Beer drinkers often prefer to drink cold beer in a transparent jug.
Beer is preferable to use a small jug that can be emptied in one or two-sip for a cold drink, but such a drink does not make the point of drinking beer.
Therefore, beer-related manufacturers are trying to develop a kind of jugs that can keep the temperature of cold beer as low as possible.
A professor of thermohydrodynamics has published a research paper on an optimal shape of a beer jug that keeps the temperature of cold beer as low as possible.
He has made a lot of studies on designs of jugs based on physical laws.
He calculated the rate of heat transfer only based on a shape of a jug without considering external factors such as the temperature of the hand holding the jug or the material used for it.
He also assumed that the floor was insulated and heat was lost only from the top and the side. And the first temperature of beer was assumed to be the same, so that the heat transfer rate only varied with the jug shape, and the thermal resistance of the jug was neglected.
After the study, the professor found out that, to keep the temperature of the cold beer as low as possible, the jug should have a small bottom and a wide top.
