Kwon Kun, the first scholar who explained the period of the existence of the dynasty of Tangun

Kwon Kun, who lived in the late 14th century and early 15th century, first interpreted that the record of the life of Tangun of over 1 000 years in "The Heritage of the Three States" means the period of its existence of the dynasty of Tangun, not his age. Kwon Kun, a talented and well-versed scholar in the metaphysics, passed the government civil service examination in 1369 and held the official positions in the Songgyungwan Academy, the royal ordinance department, and the cabinet.

In the early period of the feudal Joson dynasty, he played an important role in carrying out cultural policies including education. When he lived in exile in 1390, he also paid attention to education and taught children in the area where he was.

On the other hand, based on the practical experience gained in the course of education, he wrote the "admission theory" (Volume 1) which contained the contents of visual pedagogy which could teach learners in a straightforward way. Kwon Kun also contributed to the development of the historical science by writing the "Oriental history" (Volume 2), which summarized historical events in chronological order. "Yangchon collection" (40 volumes) is allegedly his collection of works.
